The Best Things To Do In St Albans This June

Summer Is Knocking – Let It In!

June is the month where St Albans really comes alive. The days are long, the evenings are warm (fingers crossed), and frankly there's no excuse to sit on the sofa. Whether you want to run your first 5k, find a bit of calm in the chaos, take a life drawing class, discover the Romans, or just have a very good time at a beer festival – June has got you covered.

Here's our pick of the best things on this month…

---

Get Outside

Practising Tai Chi in the Clarence Park

The last session before summer of Athena Running's brilliant 0-to-5K programme. If you've been thinking about giving running a go (or getting back into it after a long, very comfortable winter), this is a great place to start – supportive, sociable, and zero pressure. Don't let the summer slip by without giving it a try.

St Albans Folk Festival: Friday 5th – Sunday 7th June

Three days of folk music, dance and general merriment in and around the city. The highlights? Dance demonstrations happening around the town centre and Cathedral from 10.15 to 15.30 on Saturday. It's the kind of thing that makes a normal Saturday in town a special Saturday in town. And it's free.

Mad Squirrel Summer Festival: Friday 13th June

Mad Squirrel make brilliant beer. They also throw a great party. Join them for the kind of afternoon that becomes an evening.

Herts School of Tai Chi Ch'uan: Clarence Park, Saturdays throughout June

Free Tai Chi in St Albans. Slow, deliberate, meditative movement – great for body and mind, and genuinely accessible for all ages and fitness levels. It's one of those things you keep meaning to try. June is the month to actually do it.

Find Your Calm

Blend Your Calm Workshop learn aromatherapy and make your own unique essential oil blend

Jean Woolcock's aromatherapy workshops are genuinely special (we reviewed the Blend Your Calm workshop recently and can confirm: the science is fascinating, the blending is fun, and you come out feeling considerably more relaxed than when you went in). Scented Calm is another chance to learn about olfaction, explore essential oils, and create something personal to take away.

Balanced With Becs – Restorative Nervous System Sessions: June 9th, 17th & 28th

Becca runs small group, gentle, restorative sessions specifically designed to help you slow down, regulate stress, and reconnect with yourself. Women-only, supportive, and genuinely good for you. Three dates in June – pick one (or all three).

For The Little Ones

Indigo Moon run a baby massage course for mothers and babies

A baby yoga course starting on 3rd June – lovely for parent and baby alike. Gentle movement, calm environment, and a great way to meet other parents. Booking recommended.

Be Creative

Bob Wright runs a life art class in St Albans. This some of Bob's artwork.

Bob Wright Art – St Albans Life Class: Saturday 21st June

Life drawing in St Albans. Whether you're a seasoned artist or someone who hasn't picked up a pencil since school, a life class is one of those experiences that surprises you – it demands focus in a way that's oddly meditative. Bob Wright's classes are welcoming and well run.

Explore Your City

Alban Day is a unique festival to St Albans. Expect pilgrims, and huge puppets and children dressed as Romans

St Albans Tour Guides – Guided Walks: Wednesdays and Weekends

Did you know you can take a guided walk through Roman St Albans? Or follow in the footsteps of the Wars of the Roses? Or discover Tudor St Albans? The St Albans Tour Guides run walks on Wednesdays and weekends throughout June – and they're brilliant. The kind of thing visitors come from miles away to do, while locals walk past without a second glance. Fix that.

Free Tours of St Albans Cathedral: Throughout June

While you're at it – free guided tours of the Cathedral are available throughout June. One of the most remarkable buildings in England, right on your doorstep.

Alban Day Festival: Friday 20th June

The city's annual celebration of its patron saint. Free activities throughout the day including face painting, jesters, storytelling and crafts. A great day out for families, and a reminder of just how much history this place has.

We have over 300 activities, so if we haven't picked your favourites here, take a look at the rest of the website or get in touch here – and if you spot something brilliant we've missed, let us know!

Have fun. Do good.
