Who We Are

The Pioneer Club has a unique place in St Albans culture. We are home to the UK's oldest indoor skatepark, which was built and maintained by the local skate community who still call The Pioneer Club home. We have a legendary music venue which has hosted bands from Motorhead to Rudimental and was the birthplace of The Zombies. Our commitment to music has seen us install a recording studio for use by the wider Pioneer community. We have a cafe / bar called The Suet Yard and we also host community events, youth events and provide a space to work, relax and play.

Who is it for?

Our Skatepark provides tuition sessions for those (of any age) wanting to get on a skateboard for the first time (or the first time in a long time), delivers beginner sessions for those wanting to practice and a variety of open sessions including Shrednesday, Old Folks Night and Ladies Night. With a unique vibe and welcoming atmosphere, we are a safe space to play and chill - whoever you are and whatever level you are at.

Need to Know

The Pioneer Club is a St Albans Charity set up in 1941. We are a youth charity and also have a responsibility to the wider community. We run the oldest indoor skate park in the UK and also host activities for young people including music events. We need help fundraising as we have no outside support
