Who We Are
Mama Cacao is bean-to-bar chocolate-maker, cacao farmer and educator Juliet Davey, who has spent over a decade making fine chocolate from cacao she grows and sources directly from farmers in Costa Rica. She runs hands-on chocolate-making workshops, guided tastings and cacao tours, sharing the history, culture and craft of chocolate-making from bean to bar. Juliet is also the founder of the Mama Cacao Collective, a non-profit supporting women cacao farmers, climate resilience and cacao heritage.
Who is it for?
These chocolate workshops and tastings suit chocolate lovers, curious foodies, and anyone looking for a fun, hands-on food experience to do solo or with a friend in Hertfordshire – perfect for a date night, girls' night or simply discovering what really goes into making fine craft chocolate. No experience necessary, adults welcome.
Need to Know
Mama Cacao's chocolate workshops run as one-off events hosted at partner venues around Hertfordshire (this one at Sala Thai Kitchen, St Albans), so dates and locations vary – check with Hobby Republik for the latest availability. Each ticket includes hands-on cacao bean roasting and chocolate-making, a guided tasting, the story of cacao's history and health properties, a take-home PDF recipe booklet, and plenty of chocolate to sample.
