Who We Are
Life Drawing St Albans is run by Bob Wright, a professional illustrator based in St Albans. Sessions are held at the fantastic Trestle Arts Base, creating figure studies using professional artists' models.
These sessions have built a warm, welcoming community of artists of all abilities. Bob is on hand throughout to offer tutelage, a critical eye, and encouragement as you work.
Sessions run monthly on Sunday afternoons.
Who is it for?
All levels are welcome, from the seasoned scribbler to the complete novice.
Perhaps you studied art at college or university and always enjoyed life drawing, or perhaps you've never tried it before. Either way, you'll find the atmosphere one of encouragement — a genuine art space open to experiment, free of heavy critical judgement.
This is a drop-in session, not a structured class. Bob is on hand to help and give advice, but if you're a complete beginner you may want to seek a structured course first before using these sessions to build on your studies.

Need to Know
Bob Wright is a professional illustrator (pencilwright.com) who has been running Life Drawing St Albans for many years. His sessions are relaxed, informal and genuinely creative.
Each session is 2 hours 30 minutes and includes multiple poses of varied timings — 2, 5, 10, 15, 20 and up to 30 minutes — starting with quick gestural warm-ups and finishing with longer, more challenging poses.
Boards, paper, charcoal and pencils are provided. Please feel free to bring your own materials. Cartridge paper is available to purchase separately at 50p per sheet.
Please arrive 15–20 minutes before the start time.
Parking: Free at the Trestle car park — access via Princess Diana Drive, turn into Sovereign Park.
