Who We Are

Kate Buchanan is a textile artist based in Pirton, near Hitchin in Hertfordshire. She believes that we are all creative — we just need a little time and space to play. Kate runs creative workshops and classes from her home studio and from larger hired spaces, alongside tutorials, kits and cards for anyone who wants to explore printing, watercolour, collage and stitch at their own pace.

Who is it for?

Anyone curious about trying their hand at printing, painting, collage or stitch — whether you're a complete beginner or already have some experience. Kate's workshops are small and relaxed, with plenty of guidance, so they suit nervous first-timers as well as more confident creatives looking to play. She also runs a dedicated Junior Art Class for young people aged 10–18.

Need to Know

Most workshops run from Kate's home studio in Pirton, near Hitchin, with tea and cake on hand throughout. Group sizes are kept small (often just 2–4 people) so everyone gets proper guidance. Some workshops run at other venues — the UnMatched watercolour sessions take place upstairs at Unmatched Club on Leyton Road, Harpenden. Private workshops can be arranged for birthdays or get-togethers, and joining Kate's email list (kate@katebuchanan.com) is the best way to hear about new dates before they're released publicly.
