My name is Emma, a local mum and bonus mum of 2 teenagers with a background in dance performance and teaching. At 43, a back injury started to shout for my attention and I found myself with a zimmer frame in June 2020 and surrendered to my situation by hanging up dancing shoes and quite literally going back to square one. Having danced and moved for my whole life, this transition was challenging and deeply charged being amplified by Covid and all the feelings of isolation that came with that. Where a void had formed, I was able to lean into and explore different healing modalities which helped me find my way back to me; which then became my focus, wanting to help and support others on their healing journey. Sound and music had always been woven into my life, and I enjoyed attending soundbaths finding them deeply restorative experiences so when the opportunity presented itself, I embarked on training in this area and I can honestly say my time holding space for others creating soundscapes for deep rest and relaxation feels like such a gift. I work intuitively with gong (I have a 32”Symphonic Paiste Gong), crystal bowls, drumming, chimes and other percussion, and am led by the energy in the room. No two experiences are the same to play or to receive, but the vibrations and tones from the instruments meet the participants where they are on any particular day, and assist with regulating the nervous system, bringing people back in touch with themselves, having some meaningful and mindful time out to reconnect, help to shift any stagnant energy or blockages and simply chill out! I also work with the beautiful energy of Reiki in both 1-2-1 settings and groups, and the drum work in my Sound Meditations is rooted in Reiki drumming technique so this flows into all aspects of my work.
