Who We Are

We are an independent music shop that has been on London Road in St Albans since 1980. Our workshop is always busy servicing guitars and amps and a team of super cool and committed tutors deliver lessons in guitar, bass and drums during term time for students of all ages. We sell guitars and pianos for everyone from the beginner to the semi pro. Our range of Yamaha Digital Pianos are proudly displayed in our piano showroom, while acoustic, electric and bass guitars adorn our walls across two floors. There’s even a small room full of ukuleles. We’re open 09:30 – 17:00 Monday – Saturday, with parking available on our forecourt.

Who is it for?

Our structured lessons are designed for all abilities, whether you've never picked up an instrument or you're just looking to tweak your technique. We run lessons in guitar, bass guitar and drums. As we learn various rock tracks (from Bowie to Zep) every two weeks, this course will appeal most to those who like to rock out!

Need to Know

The Music Dept is a local legend. One of the only remaining independent music shops in St Albans it is run by Ford and the team who are talented musicians and passionate about music and musical instruments. Their service is second to none, AND, they even have a sofa where people bring their dogs for photos. Music obsessed and dog friendly. Superb!
