This is a brand new workshop designed to be an introduction to the Japanese artform of Chigiri-e. In the 3 hour workshop, you will learn the basic techniques that will enable you to create a beautiful candle jar and bauble in the session. So what is Chigiri-e? Chigiri-e is a Japanese paper art a traditional Japanese collage art form where images are created by tearing and layering colored paper onto a background, rather than cutting. The name combines chigiri (to tear or shred) and e (picture). The resulting images often have a soft texture, resembling watercolor paintings, and can be either realistic or abstract. This small group workshop will include refreshments, all the materials and plenty of teaching and support! You will of course get to take home your work at the end.
